Happy New Year to you all. How did you see the new year in? I spent the end of 2023 and the start of 2024 swimming in Lake Ullswater with a friend and my husband who was in a canoe, watching some incredible fireworks, I'm pretty sure we had the best position on the lake, it was different and very liberating to be able to do that and we seemed to be the only ones out there, cant think why! 😂 I then rolled out of bed at 8.30am on NYD and went to do a 5k Park Run. Not going to lie that was hard to do as ive not done much over the last couple of weeks apart from eat a lot and sit around wondering what day of the week it is, but i felt much better for it and was a good way to start getting back to routine. I don't make new years resolutions as I usually fail to keep them up, but there is something about the start of a new year that makes you want to start a fresh. Its also a good time to reflect on the past year and see what lessons can be learned from things that didn't work and things that did.

I sat down earlier and started writing things down on a planner as I'm determined to be more organised this year, I'm sick of feeling like I'm floating along with no plan of where I'm heading so I'm hoping this will help me aim towards my goals. I have a few things i want to try this year and one of them is learning a new language. I have decided to have a go at Italian as I love Italy and its such a lovely language to hear spoken, I'm not sure where to start but I'm sure there will be plenty of apps or learning facilities online, so that's gone on my planner to start looking at. I have also booked onto some courses locally to learn Reiki, Reflexology and holistic massage so I'm really looking forward to having a go at these. I'm heading off on a 2 day yoga retreat with Helen Kimber in February, I went on a day retreat run by Helen in November and really enjoyed it so a 2 day one should be fun and relaxing. So my planner is already starting to fill up with fun things to look forward to which makes the work in between easier to do. I put a few things in place last year such as having CBT therapy and looking at my nutrition that I will continue with this year in order to keep my mental & gut health on track and I will also continue my HRT journey as well as the running, swimming, weights classes that I started last year. I'm looking forward to seeing what else comes up along the way. One of my first jobs however is to clear the decorations and take the tree down I'm totally over the Christmas thing now and need to tidy things up again as I have struggled a bit over the festive period, probably because it messed with my routine. I'm also planning on spending less time scrolling on social media, its a habit and really isn't one that's very helpful. I have started listening to a book called Atomic Habits by James Clear that's about changing behaviours bit by bit that will revolutionise your life so that's what I am going to try this year as a part of trying to be more organised, and to allow more time for things that matter. I will continue journaling as well. One thing i need to do is sort out how to optimise my website and learn more about how to get it better seen so if anyone has any suggestions that would be a good start.

So have a think and see what small changes you could make or new things that you have always wanted to learn but perhaps have been putting it off start small then its not too overwhelming. Make plans, have fun and look forward to 2024.

Happy new year to you, I really liked atomic habbits but feel like I need to refresh myself and listen to it again. I don't have a new year's resolution but am wanting to continue being more organised also so that I have more quality time with friends and family and pick up some good habits along the way. I'm the opposite with xmas decs though, I could cry with the thought of taking them down 😭
