Happiness

After rain there's a rainbow, after a storm there's calm, after the night there's a morning, and after an end there's a new beginning. Each day is a new one and how we live that day is up to us. I have days, as im sure most people do, when i can't get myself out of the low mood ive found myself in. The sort of days where really you are probably better off shutting yourself away to deal with it in your own way and those around you then don't have to deal with your grump. Its fine to have days like these don't beat yourself up about it, try and learn from it and if you can get some space to yourself then use the time to give yourself some love, read, relax, meditate whatever you are able to do is all good, even if it doesn't get you out of the low mood that's fine too. I tend to find that I usually wake up in a better mood the next day. Happiness is something that is found from within, you should never rely on outside influences to make you happy. You may think that a certain person or money or the latest phone will make you happy but this will be short lived and you will then be looking for the next thing to give you that happy feeling. You should try and find a way to make yourself happy that's sustainable, something as simple as smiling can lift you just turning up the corners of your mouth can make all the difference. Close your eyes think of something that makes you happy, be grateful for small things like, the birds singing, the sun shining, how pretty the snow looks, the comfy bed you slept in, the pillow that supported your head, the blankets that kept you warm and cosy, as im typing this I glanced out of the window and saw a beautiful little pied wagtail sitting on the roof wagging his little tail and that made me smile. There will always be something you can focus on even in the darkest moments if you take a moment to look. Give someone you haven't spoken to in a while a call and have a chat and see how they are getting on and that may make them smile and lift them too. I still struggle not to let a low day get me down but every day is also an opportunity to learn more about myself. Grab your journal and write down your thoughts and see how you can change whats made you sad, or get outside for a brisk walk if nothing else its exercise and fresh air. Whatever it is that can make you smile give it a try and start small, any little changes in habits, or thoughts is a good start. You are in control of your own thoughts, feelings and future so grab it hard and run with it you will be amazed at what you can achieve when you smile.
